#49 – Nick Onken

September 8, 2015

Nick is a creative entrepreneur and world-renowned lifestyle, fashion and travel photographer who has worked with the likes of Jessica Alba, Usher and Justin Beiber as well as some of the world’s top brands such as Coca-Cola, Nike, Reebok, Vogue and Cosmopolitan. He is the author of the travel photography book ‘Photo Trekking’ and is the host of ShopTalk Radio, a podcast with the mission of inspiring everyone to unlock their inner creativity and create their dream life.

In This Episode:

What is ‘creative resonance’ and what it is about this that inspires you to do what you do?

We discuss the idea that “We attract what we are ready for”.

We talk about his first big break doing an awesome shoot for Nike followed by the struggle of having to wait for 2 years before another job of that calibre came along.

“That’s always been my approach, is just like throw myself in the fire and figure out how to get out or just like jump off the cliff and weave the parachute on the way down”

Nick imagines living in a world of love, passion and inspiration and believes that creativity is how we get there! I ask him why he feels that creativity is the key?

“We’re all either creating or consuming, and I feel the most fulfilled when I’m creating”

I ask Nick why the concept of ‘working backwards’ is useful when trying to achieve or create something.

Nick describes what he means by ‘CreateYour Moments’?

We talk about the importance of constantly evolving and adapting.

“If you’re working on yourself internally to become a better person you’re going to create bigger results in your life; from deeper relationships, to a more fulfilled life, to a bigger impact, I think it’s very very important.”

Some people believe that trying to turn your passion into a business can kill that passion, however Nick appears to be someone who has made it work, I ask him how.

What does a fulfilled life mean to Nick?

What is 1 thing our listeners can do today that will have a massive positive effect on their lives?

Which books or resources have changed/had a big impact on your life?
